Attractions & Considerations: The Lewis Canyon
Campground is open from May 1 through September 30. It is located in a
beautiful ponderosa pine setting with a large open field nearby which is
suitable for softball or other open field activities. Wild turkeys, elk and
deer are often seen nearby.
There is a fee charged for group use. The fees are charged on a 24-hour
basis or fraction thereof, and includes a non-refundable reservation fee.
Advance reservations can be made through the BIOSPHERE system. Call
1-800-280-CAMP.
The capacity for Lewis Canyon Campground is 150 persons. Picnic tables,
fire rings, garbage facilities, vault toilets, along with two barbecue pits,
and two sets of horseshoe pits are available for group use. A large backstop
for a baseball diamond is located in the open field nearby. Water may be
obtained at the Forest Service work center in Pinedale.
Access: Drive to the intersection of State Hwy. 260 and
Road 130. Turn south on Road 130 and drive through Pinedale to the U.S. Forest
Service work center. Continue south 2.3 miles on Road 130 to Road 130A, which
turns right and goes directly to Lewis Canyon Group Campground.
