FORT APACHE HISTORIC PARK
Captain's Quarters 102
Circa 1892
History: In 1891 a fire caused by a defective chimney
and fanned by high winds destroyed five sets of frame officers' quarters
constructed between 1883 and 1886. During the following year (1892) three
large, stone houses were built to replace those that burned. The two
westernmost buildings (this building and the one to its east) were Captains'
quarters. The easternmost house of the trio served as the new Commanding
Officer's quarters.
