FORT APACHE HISTORIC PARK
OFFICER'S QUARTERS 106
Circa 1886
History: this building is the only surviving frame residence built
prior to 1886. It was one of seven sets of frame quarters constructed between
1883 and 1886. The neat domestic appearance of these houses contributed to the
small town atmosphere of the fort. A picket fence originally ran along the
front yards of these houses, separating them from a boardwalk with kerosene
lamps and a tree-lined, dirt road beyond.
