Abundant lakes and rivers are home to the native Apache Trout. Visitors will find that trout fishing in Arizona's White mountains is not limited to the Apache Trout. Brook, Brown, Cutthroat, and Rainbow Trout are common in our lakes and streams! Interested in Bass, Crappie, Arctic Grayling, Northern Pike, Walleye, or Catfish? Whatever your fishing interest, Arizona's White Mountains can provide you with the opportunity to catch that elusive lunker!

Like to hike and view wildlife? How about a hike through our many forest trails! Hear Elk bugling in the high mountain air that is crisp in the morning and remains fresh all day. Arizona's White Mountains are home to a variety of wildlife including: Elk, Deer, Antelope, Javelina, Bear, Turkey, Sheep, Mountain Lion, Squirrel, and water fowl.

Fishing is a year 'round opportunity! Hunting seasons are scheduled by the Arizona Game & Fish Department. Permits are required, along with a legal hunting license, for the taking of big game on public lands. Hunting may also be scheduled on Indian Lands in accordance with the Tribal Game & Fish Departments. Seasons for harvesting wildlife on Indian Lands must be confirmed with the Tribe.

Trophy Elk are not uncommon in our area. Hunters utilize a variety of methods authorized by Arizona State Law. Permitted methods for harvesting wildlife may include: Archery, Muzzleloading Rifles, Firearms, and Trapping.

Think you're at a disadvantage because you don't know the area? Hunting guides licensed by the State of Arizona are available in the White Mountains to assist you in locating and harvesting wildlife. Make that special trip even more special. A licensed guide - who knows the area, can make your stay in Arizona's White Mountains even more memorable by helping you locate that huge "lunker" or trophy elk. The Arizona Game & Fish department keeps a list of licensed guides to assist hunters and fishermen. Remember -- if you hire a guide, he or she must be legally licensed! You are responsible for your hunt! Should you engage a licensed guide, ensure that they are knowledgeable as to hunting requirements!
