Like to hike and view wildlife? How about a hike through our many forest trails! Hear Elk bugling in the high mountain air that is crisp in the morning and remains fresh all day. Arizona's White Mountains are home to a variety of wildlife including: Elk, Deer, Antelope, Javelina, Bear, Turkey, Sheep, Mountain Lion, Squirrel, and water fowl. Fishing is a year 'round opportunity! Hunting seasons are scheduled by the Arizona Game & Fish Department. Permits are required, along with a legal hunting license, for the taking of big game on public lands. Detailed information on hunting seasons, regulations, permits, and licensing may be obtained by contacting the Arizona Game & Fish Department at (602) 942-3000, or check out the Department of Game & Fish at www.gf.state.az.us. Hunting may also be scheduled on Indian Lands in accordance with the Tribal Game & Fish Departments. Seasons for harvesting wildlife on Indian Lands must be confirmed with the Tribe. Trophy Elk are not uncommon in our area. Hunters utilize a variety of methods authorized by Arizona State Law. Permitted methods for harvesting wildlife may include: Archery, Muzzleloading Rifles, Firearms, and Trapping.
