A GUIDE TO RECREATION AND RELAXATION
First time visitors will enjoy the scenic and cultural diversity
of Northeastern Arizona. Navajo County covers over six million acres and is the
fourth largest county in the state. The county borders extend north through the
Navajo and Hopi reservations to the Utah state line, south to the White
Mountains, the Apache Reservation and along the Mogollon Rim.
In the north, semi arid, high plateau grassland reveals rugged
desert beauty. In contrast, the southern end is heavily wooded with juniper,
pinion, and ponderosa pine. The Indian Reservations in Navajo County include
the world renowned scenic Monument Valley, Historical Fort Apache and the
Ancient Hopi Villages.
